Lewis, C. S PERELANDRA - A Novel London John Lane The Bodley Head 1943 First Edition; Third Printing Hardcover Near Fine in Very Good+ dust jacket 12mo; 256 pages; Publisher's blue-grey linen, spine lettered in gilt. This is the third printing of the middle novel in C. S. Lewis's "Space Trilogy" featuring Elwin Ransom, a retelling of the creation and fall of man in the book of Genesis. This is from the same year as the first printing - 1943. The copy is clean and tight, entirely unmarked. There is a tiny bit of moderate sunning at the head of the spine (where a small chip missing from the top of the dust jacket has allowed light to strike the cloth). The dust jacket itself is lovely, with small bands (ca. 1 mm) of chipping and loss at the spine ends. The jacket flaps are not clipped -- retaining the 8s 6d net. price on the front flap (in pale yellow letters, along with the notation, in tiny, matching, yellow letters "Third Impression." There is an abrasion to the front panel with a tiny loss of the pale blue colored surface. This is near, but does not affect, the central illustration. Also, there is a short, closed tear at the top edge of the rear panel. Two blurbs from reviews on the front flap, rear flap has an ad for "Out of the Silent Planet" and the rear panel has ads for three novels by Rex Warner (unchanged from the first impression).
