The author James W. Bellah was an aviator in both World War I and World War II. Several of his stories were made into films by John Ford. Some of these include Fort Apache, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, and Rio Grande. Furthermore, he wrote screenplays for Ford including The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and Sergeant Rutledge.
