Clean and tight in original brown cloth bindings with gilt lettering at spines. Former owner's bookplate and signature on endpapers -- Rev. J. L. McLees, who was the Pastor of The First Presbyterian Church, Orangeburg, South Carolina from 1889 to 1925. McLees was born in Greenwood, South Carolina in 1855. His grandfather immigrated to South Carolina from Ireland and served in the Revolutionary War; and his father was also a Presbyterian minister. Rev. J.L. McLees owned and farmed 1200 acres just outside Orangeburg and also served as director of the People's Bank of Orangeburg. ; Experience the pleasure of reading and appreciating this actual printed item. It has its own physical history that imbues it with a character lacking in ephemeral electronic renderings.
