12mo 7" - 7½" tall; Clean and tight in original blue binding, pages toned. Folding color map at rear. From the collection of Susan Mary Patten Alsop, a pillar of Washington society. She was the daughter of a diplomat, a descendant of John Jay (the first Chief Justice of the U. S. Supreme Court), and eventually served with her husband Bill Patten at the American Embassy in Paris in the post World War II era. In the 1970s she embarked on her own literary career producing "To Marietta From Paris: 1945-1960" (1974), followed by "Lady Sackville: A Biography" (1978), "Yankees at the Court: The First Americans in Paris" (1982), and "The Congress Dances: Vienna 1814-1815" (1984).

8vo ; Text clean and tightly stitched, binding very worn, torn across hinges, pages toned. Desirable only because it is from the collection of Susan Mary Patten Alsop, a pillar of Washington society. She was the daughter of a diplomat, a descendant of John Jay (the first Chief Justice of the U. S. Supreme Court), and eventually served with her husband Bill Patten at the American Embassy in Paris in the post World War II era. In the 1970s she embarked on her own literary career producing "To Marietta From Paris: 1945-1960" (1974), followed by "Lady Sackville: A Biography" (1978), "Yankees at the Court: The First Americans in Paris" (1982), and "The Congress Dances: Vienna 1814-1815" (1984). The worn condition of this book is a testament to Susan Mary's inimate knowledge of and devotion to Paris.

From the collection of Susan Mary Patten Alsop, a pillar of Washington society. She was the daughter of a diplomat, a descendant of John Jay (the first Chief Justice of the U. S. Supreme Court), and eventually served with her husband Bill Patten at the American Embassy in Paris in the post World War II era. In the 1970s she embarked on her own literary career producing "To Marietta From Paris: 1945-1960" (1974), followed by "Lady Sackville: A Biography" (1978), "Yankees at the Court: The First Americans in Paris" (1982), and "The Congress Dances: Vienna 1814-1815" (1984). Clean and tight in original blue binding with gilt lettering in nice dustjacket with minor wear at head of spine and a strip torn from the inside rear flap, pages toned.
