4to 11" - 13" tall; Map and several photographic illustrations. A compilation of nine articles by U.S. Science writer Robert Stevens written at McMurdo Sound and Cape Royds. Stevens' travels in Antarctica enabled him to interview the scientists working there and observe their activities, which are administered by the National Science Foundation and supported logistically by the U. S. Navy. Stapled pictorial wrappers, text block clean and tight, offsetting from newsclipping laid in at titlepage, small chip at upper left corner of front wrapper, red pencil line on front wrapper, faint marginal damp mark at spine ege of wrappers (superficial not affecting text block). Scarce.
