Graz Verlag Des Deutschen Und Oesterreichischen Alpenvereins 1896 First Edition Softcover Good 4to
Lacks two leaves of text at the end. ; iv & 336 pp pages; Publisher's grey printed wrappers, partially unopened. Most of the illustrations are from photographs (including several lovely collotype plates and a folding panorama) . The plates are superb. Minor soiling and wear to the wrappers, particularly along the spine and at the edges. Alas, the last two leaves of text are missing at the end. Good, otherwise. An interesting volume of a leading mountaineering annual journal, published in Graz, Austria -- and edited by Heinrich Hess. The frontispiece is from a photograph of Langkofel from the Northeast. While these annuals are essential for the serious Alpinist, their range is not exclusively devoted to mountaineering and study of the Alps. There is a a 26-page account of a climbing trip to the Andes, and a major article deals with Mt. Arrara. Most of the illustrations are from photographs (including several lovely collotype plates and a folding panorama) . The plates are superb. Minor soiling and wear to the wrappers, particularly along the spine and at the edges. Alas, the last two leaves of text are missing at the end. Good, otherwise. ; Experience the pleasure of reading and appreciating this actual printed item. It has its own physical history that imbues it with a character lacking in ephemeral electronic renderings.
