Catalogue raisonné par régions des espèces qu'il y aurait lieu d'acclimater et de domestiquer en France. 37 woodcut illustrations in the text by J. Terrier, including one folding plate. Louis Magaud d'Aubusson (1849-1917) also published Les Oiseaux de la France and La Fauconnerie. Quarter green calf over marbled boards with marbled endpapers. Corners rubbed, otherwise a very nice copy of this scarce monograph.; Experience the pleasure of reading and appreciating this actual printed item. It has its own physical history that imbues it with a character lacking in ephemeral electronic renderings.

Colour Plates; viii, 142, (vi) pages; Clean and secure in original publisher's binding of brown cloth with decorative stamping in gilt at spine and front board depicting gilt canary on a perch, AEG, smalltear in cloth st edge of spine. Illustrated with 12 colour plates depicting birds and one b&w plate of bird cages. "The information given, being 'a plain unvarnished tale' of the writer's own personal experience, will, it is hoped, prove alike interesting and instructive to the reader; while the illustrations, drawn by his daughter, being portraits of his own birds, will serve as a guide to those who may wish (like the Author) to form a systematic and choice collection for themselves." from the Preface, dated 1868. Colour wood-engraved plates are unsigned and without imprint. All are with title captions./ Plates were printed and engraved by Benjamin Fawcett.
