Henry William Herbert (1807-1858) was born in London and moved to the U.S. in 1830. He wrote several works of historical fiction published under his own name. Mr. Herbert was also a constant contributor to the New York Spirit of the Times. His sporting articles in that periodical were gathered for publication in book form.
