8vo; Drawings by Bernadine Custer. Kipling and his wife came to Dummerston, Vermont with the intention of making it their home. They built Naulakha' and he wrote many of his most popular books. After months of smoldering trouble, flaring up in a public trial, Kipling and his family hurriedly packed their luggage, and left Vermont and never returned. The complete, authentic story is told here for the first time. The author heard the full account from Kipling's brother-in-law , Beatty Balestier and published this account after both Kipling and Balestier had died. Former owner's name on ffep, dustjacket worn at edges with some chips along top.
