The portrait measures 10" by 7" with the image and facsimile autograph centered; protective tissue guard in place. Engraved by Samuel Sartain. Edwin H. Stowe was for forty years Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and for many years a resident of Pittsburg. Stowe was born in Beaver county, PA in 1826. He was educated in Washington College and moved to Pittsburgh in 1846 and was admitted to the Bar in 1849; thence began a very successful law practive. In 1862 he was nominated and elected judge of the Common Pleas Court. After many re-elections, Judge Stowe had the distinction of being the oldest judge in commission in the State of Pennsylvania.
