The portrait measures 10" by 7" with the image and facsimile autograph centered; protective tissue guard in place. Engraved by E. G. Williams. James E. Breading, the son of Judge Nathaniel Breading, was born on Tower Hill Farm in Fayette County, PA in 1789. In 1829 he moved to Pittsburgh and founded a large wholesale drygoods business in Pittsburgh in partnership with his brother-in-law George Hogg, under the name Breading and Hogg. He established the first ironworks at Sharpsburg, PA and participated in several other commercial ventures in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area.
