Joseph Benson Gilder (1858 – 1936) was an American editor and the brother of Richard Watson Gilder and Jeannette Leonard Gilder and the explorer William Henry Gilder. In 1881, Gilder and his sister founded The Critic, which they edited until 1906 when it folded. He was literary advisor to the Century Company (1895–1902), and editor of the New York Times "Review of Books" in 1910–11. Eden Phillpotts (1862 –1960) was an English author, poet and dramatist. Phillpotts was for many years the President of the Dartmoor Preservation Association devoted to the conservation of Dartmoor.
