The author, Hobart Rowen [1919-1995] shaped the course of American financial reporting, at Newsweek, the Washington Post, and finally, the New York Times. His first book, an assessment of the business relations and policies of the Kennedy Administration (and the first few months of Lyndon Johnson's continuation, might have been different but for the sad and sudden end of John F. Kennedy's term in the Oval Office, November 23, 1963. Rowen had an appointment, arranged with the President's Press Secretary, Pierre Salinger, to interview the President during the week after Kennedy's planned return from Dallas to Washington. The recipient of the inscription, Roger Neuhoff [1928-2015] had been one of the early recruits to the newly-founded Central Intelligence Agency in 1950, for whom he served behind the lines in North Korea, seeking to rescue captured American pilots during the Korean War. From the mid 1950's on, he formed two media groups with various broadcast properties. (His first firm was "Eastern Broadcasting." After the then-record sale of that group, Roger Neuhoff founded "Neuhoff Communications" in 2003, which still operates). ; Signed by Author
