34 pages; Publisher's binding: vellum spine over blue-grey paper-covered boards, with pictorial device in gilt on the front cover and lettering in gilt on the spine. Endpapers with a wood-engraved device printed in green, top edges gilt, others untrimmed. Four full page wood engravings and three smaller engravings, one as title page device, the other two as tail-pieces to the colophon and list of illustrations. The artist, Stephanie Maberly Smith (1911-1996) was a student and protege of Robert Gibbings at the School of Art, Reading University. Gibbings, master of the modern British revivial of wood engraving, oversaw Stephanie Maberly Smith's 1939 publication at the School - [ 'Loftur. A Play, by Johann Sigurjonsson.' Printed by Robert Gibbings at The University of Reading in an edition of 105 copies]. The present 1953 publication is part of an unspecified, but small edition. The colophon states: "This edition is printed by hand in Great Britain at The Caravel Press, 1953; the type is Caslon Old Face, the paper is hand-made Antique Laid, and the volume is quarter bound in parchment, block in gold." Two locations cited in OCLC [Number: 13169907].
