L'Impero Italiano dell'Africa Orientale

By: De Magistris, L[uigi] F[ilippo]

Price: $49.94

Quantity: 1 available

2 pl. , 95 & color plates pages; Publisher's color pictorial wrappers, title printed in red -- the vivid cover depicts Benito Mussolini in a typical pose with a map of Africa behind him. Illustrations throughout, including color plates printed on rectos and versos which are hors texte (not included in pagination). Although the cover states that this work is "Il Libro della V Classe Elementare" -- the text and illustrations seem sufficiently advanced for adult readers. A very good copy of this scarce publication about the portions of Africa which the Italian Fascist government (in its anno XV) considered either currently, or potentially, part of Italy's colonial possessions. The rear wrapper has moderate foxing, and states a price [Presso: L. 4,50] and has a mounted postage-stamp like pictorial label with perforated edges "Prov. Gen. Dello Stato / Libri Vniv. le Scuole Elementari A - XV" -- this have been overstamped "106 COLLAUDO" Now quite scarce; evidently not in OCLC or COPAC. Not to be confused with a similarly titled much smaller book published in Genova by Ortali [with 40 pp. including maps of L'Impero d'Etiopia, l'Eritrea, la Somalia]. Some toning throughout, minor repairs to the fragile spine, which is missing small pieces at the head and foot. Title page in red and black.
