1 pages; This vintage black & white postcard depicts the fabulous wrought iron elevator and operator in the luxurious Hotel Meurice in Paris. No date, but likely before 1935. Originally established in the early 19th century, the Hotel Meurice underwent a major interior renovation between 1905 and 1907 under the direction of the architect Henri Paul NĂ©not, winner of the Grand Prix de Rome. For interior decoration, the Louis XVI style prevailed in this revamping, and they installed an innovative wrought iron lift, designed after the sedan chair used by Marie Antoinette.
